Changing an extension number in Evo Voice is a straightforward process, but it’s important to ensure the new extension is unique within the system to avoid conflicts.
Steps to Change an Extension Number
Step 1: Log in to Evo Voice
Access your Evo Voice admin portal using your administrator credentials.
Step 2: Locate the Extension
-
Go to Customers or Endpoints in the left-hand menu.
-
Search for the company or user whose extension you want to modify.
-
Select the existing endpoint or user profile.
Step 3: Edit the Extension Number
-
In the endpoint settings, locate the Extension field.
-
Replace the current number with the new unique extension number.
-
Ensure no other user or device in the system is using this number (Evo Voice will typically alert you if there’s a conflict).
Step 4: Save Changes
Click Save or Update Endpoint to apply the changes.
Step 5: Reprovision the Device (if applicable)
If the extension is linked to a desk phone or softphone, you may need to:
-
Reboot the device
-
Reprovision it through Endpoints → [Select Device] → Provision
-
Confirm the new extension is active.
Step 6: Test the New Extension
-
Call the new extension from another internal phone.
-
Confirm inbound and outbound calls work as expected.
